“To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle.” George Orwell

What is it about our perception that prevents us at times from seeing the obvious until we are forced to? Chassidic philosophy maintains that the creation of independent minded beings was achieved through tzimtzum; by G-d filtering his omnipresence from mans perspective. This not only gives us behavioral choice but conceals and places stumbling blocks before spiritually healthy choices. On the other hand it is precisely due to this concealment, the ability to choose and overcome that there is achievement and the potential for a greater awareness. The gateways of Torah and Mitzva allow us to transcend and bring our concealed environment into the ‘higher’ reality of G-d’s unity. The struggle can be constant between what we independently perceive versus our spiritual endeavor and achievement. However it will not always be this way and things will soon change in a big way.

“As in the days of your going out of Egypt I will show you wonders “ MIcha 7:15

Some of the sequence and contents of end time events are modeled on the Jewish exodus from Egypt. Chassidus tell us that the plagues brought on the Egyptian nation served two purposes. The first effect was the Egyptian defeat. The second was to reveal the existence and unlimited potential of G-d to both the Jewish and Egyptian nations. The Torah records that after the third plague the intelligentsia of Egypt declared that the events were beyond the scope of human capability and indicated the activity of a higher being. However despite the display of the full 10 plagues and the comprehension of some intellectuals, there remained those who were unmoved. Consequently Pharaoh and his elite army chased after the Jewish people to their dramatic demise.

This arrogant immunity to revelation was also evidenced after the complete exodus (including the miracles at the red sea and Sinai which were publicized worldwide). After the exodus the Amalekite nation launched a brazen attack against the Jewish people. The defiance of Amalek was so great that out of all nations on earth only they are singled out in the Torah for complete destruction. In what lies their unredeemable sin? They saw and understood the G-d of Israel and his power, yet they still rebelled and endeavored to eradicate the catalyst nation of Israel. The Amalek within are the aspects of our character which remain unmoved and even stubbornly rebel even we lucidly grasp spiritual truths. Other behavioral folly can be reduced to misunderstanding, confusion or ignorance and can be rectified through revelation. However the ego serving behavior analogous to Amalek is immune to revelation and therefore has no redemption except its complete nullification.

“Adding an Aleph to Goleh equals Geulah”

The Rebbe taught us that the word used to characterize the end times in Hebrew reveals the stages of inner transformation that will occur. Geula, which means redemption is the same as the word Goleh which means exile except for one letter. An aleph. The aleph equals one. The aleph in Hebrew means study. The Aleph in Hebrew contains the exact same 3 letters as Pelah or wonder. The first stage of revelation is recognizing one G-d , as the intelligentsia of Egypt had so many years ago. They recognized G-d through his display of dominion over the natural world. We have begun to see such a display. Very soon we will start to hear intelligentsia opining that this is the finger of G-d as was said in Egypt so many years ago. But it wont convince everyone , but this will signal that that 2nd and 3rd revelations of aleph will not be far behind. Get ready boys and girls.
