The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested four terrorists in New York City after they bought what they thought were explosives and a Stinger missile to be used to blow up two synagogues and shoot down a plane at a nearby National Guard base.

The four men are from New York City and bear American names but told authorities they are linked with terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The FBI is still investigating their backgrounds.

The cell had been under surveillance for a year and bought phony explosives from FBI agents, who also sold them a fake Stinger missile. The men planned to place the would-be bombs in front of the Riverdale Temple in the Bronx and under parked cars as well as blow up the Riverdale Jewish Center.

An informer from a mosque helped authorities track the cell, which was arrested after New York policemen blocked the terrorists’ black SUV parked outside the temple, broke in the windows and handcuffed the suspects.


The alleged ringleader was James Cromitie, who the New York Daily News reported is the son of an Afghan immigrant and has a criminal record. His three accomplices were jailhouse converts to Islam.

NEWS: Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel Closed Due To Swine Flu

FIRST REPORT: YWN has just confirmed that Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel (Flatbush branch of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim) in Flatbush has been closed due to one confirmed case of Swine Flu. The Yeshiva is located at 1271 East 31st Street in Flatbush.

The entire Yeshiva (Elementary, High School & Bais Medrash) will be closed until after Shavuos.

This is the second Yeshiva that has been closed due to the recent Swine Flue outbreak. Last evening YWN reported the closure of Yeshiva Magen David, which will remain closed until the Monday following Shavuos (June 1).

There are still rumors regarding an additional Yeshiva being closed in Flatbush - and YWN will bring you that info as soon as it’s confirmed.

Swine-flu Alert to Passengers on El Al Flight 8 from NY

(IsraelNN.com) The Health Department said on Sunday that passengers who arrived in Israel on flight 8 from New York should see a doctor immediately if they develop fever symptoms.

The instructions were issued after a 24-year-old Israel who was on the flight became Israel’s eighth confirmed case of the H1N1 swine-flu virus. He is currently in quarantine at Tel HaShomer hospital after tests confirmed he was infected.
